The Book of the Light
The Book of the Light is the main religious text of the Children of the Light. It is rarely in found complete in bound book form, except for in the larger and wealthy Churches of Light in the land. Most Churches have older versions of the book that are supplemented with scrolls for the later additions.
Purpose
The Book of the Light explains the universe to the Children of the Light, from the creation of the universe by Anno the Light and Xi, through the Banishment of Xi to the The Lower Lands. Stories and essays on living a proper life are included as inspiration to all the faithful.
The Book of Light was first written by Raival of Talîsmarr one of the first priests of the Church of Light. He sought to codify the beliefs, tenets, and dogma of the faith to insure that the same teachings were used as the Church expanded and spread over Kyrn. Since it's initial writing, as other truths or practices where revealed, they have been added to the Book of the Light. Each Archbishop is expected to work on maintaining an up to date version of the Book for their area of control, and also to submit proposals for additions to the Book, which are voted on by all the Archbishops.
The Book of Light is broken up into two main sections. The first called the Chapters of Truth, are dedicated to the stories of the Risen, and their saints and prophets, and illustrate how to live a faithful life. The second section, the Chapters of Rites, are reserved for the clerics of the faith, and discuss how to conduct rites, rituals, ceremonies, and direct the clerics how to lead their flock on the Path of Light. There is rumored to be a third section called the Chapters of the Fallen that discuss Xi and the other Fallen and how to recognise and combat them, but this section has not been verified.
