Belenad (Bell-ee-nad)

Belenad is the smallest of the recognized continents in Laminarum, paling in comparison to some island territories abroad from Silse, lending many to wonder whether or not it should be considered part of the predominantly elvish continent. Culturally, it was decided to leave Belenad independent of Silse due to problematic themes of Western Elvish exceptionalism.

Division of Territorty

Belenad has two official territories: Udundst in the west and Renad in the east. These divisions are based entirely on the dominant inhabitants of each region (Yunbad in the west and J'barri in the west). While the method of dividing the territory is considered outdated due to the Yunbad genocide, there's been little reason to alter its basis.    Udundst was once a land of large mountains overlooking deltas in the west with thriving wildlife. The Yunbad (a species of large, sapient ape) dominated the middle to upper mountain ranges while subsisting entirely on limited vegetation. Today, Udundst is a barren wasteland prone to dust storms, cold weather, and little normal wildlife to speak of. The only nation actively investigating the region is the J'barri of Brillé, though their isolationist policy means little information diffuses to the rest of the world.   Renad, which is the only settled region of Belenad (ca. 1947 NG), is home to he J'barri people. The majority of the land is a savanna, which is loosely delegated between the nations of Brillé, Kala, and Roja. While biodiversity may be lacking compared to some temperate regions of Laminarum, the wildlife is still sure to impress, with some of the largest feline predators, gargantuan grazing herbivores, and uniquely adapted plant life. One should plan their travels across the savanna in accordance with the summer months, as watering holes may only be found during wet periods and can greatly impact the quality of travel.
