Strand-Blood Cult
The Strand-Blood cult is an extinct human religion that overtook much of Jurejun during the reign of Kanel Logratte. Led by Abbot II, they considered themselves to be one large family and anyone who joined the group took the new family name "Strand-Blood." They prioritized looking out for each other beyond all else, even their spiritual connections. They were made up entirely of prisoners sentenced to banishment in Jurejun. The individuals generally followed visions they experienced while resting under the desecrated island's trees and believed the visions brought by the "falling sand" were allowing direct communion with their gods. The group grew to a daunting size, considering how many people were banished. Their downfall began upon splitting up to follow a vision granted by Chal Churdour, now understood to be the devil of mass fear, persecution, and disease.
The Strand-Blood family were the first humans to discover Mot D'nir, which they called Drulluvatn at the time. For their similar aesthetics and lifestyles, they made good friends with the natives. However, these connections were cut after the Islands Five manipulated the natives and pushed the blame for atrocities onto the Strand-Bloods. This ultimately resulted in the native Tara-Jhen and Snow Rocks executing the family hierarch, Abbot II, and hunting the rest.
Mythology & Lore
The Strand-Bloods were the first to commune with the devil of disease, Chal Churdour. They also believed in the entirety of the human pantheon at this point, though they were more liberal with the role of the Ithitar in the world, primarily because Chal Churdour was forthcoming with admitting he was among their ranks.
Divine Origins
The Strand Bloods started as a mere group of banished criminals trying to survive Jurejun. After repeated spiritual experiences, they grew closer, considering themselves family and the trees to be a pathway to communing with the gods. After consistent substance exposure changed their physiology, they took the new name and functioned as a religious cult.
