Military: War
The war waged by Epithet, the Fleet and the The Ettermiddag Raider Factions against Eldurgrund and the Icelend Dwarves.
The War of Storms and Wings was named for the onslaught waged against Euvurcrest by Epithet, in a harsh betrayal against the city that he built. Wishing to wage war further, he hoped to bring down the government that he built for its lack of subordination and what he deemed to be "inadequacy." The Snowhammers, prior, had been promised great weapons against the machinations of the Ohdaufeen by Milin Orphi. Some thought that these weapons were in the form of dark magic and rituals, but others believed that he had calculated the downfall of Epithet (or caused it himself). Regardless, it was the eventual merging of Epithet, the Snowhammers, and the deceitful among the Icelend Dwarves that would lead to the war against Eldurgrund. The war saw horrible storms brought throughout Eldurgrund and the total destruction of nearly every newly established settlement to the north of Euvurcrest. The barony, falling back to its capital city in hopes of one last successful defense, were saved during Epithet's attack when the Rimetusk Clan saved the day. Epithet was dispatched with a combination of ice magic and steel, while the many involved in the siege were burned with quicklime. The raiders were on the retreat, establishing a series of settlements reaching back into the Icelends. Both the dwarves and humans were able to force them back as far as the tundras in the Northlends, but the people of Eldurgrund were poorly adjusted to the cold and the dwarves were too few in numbers to be effective. The war was considered won, but those traveling in the northernmost portions of Eldurgrund still worry about bandits and savage clans to this day. the Rimetusk Clan was rewarded with a piece of land and a lordship, making it the second oldest lordship in Eldurgrund today (with the first being Peatwood). Though they have remained reclusive ever since they still pay their taxes and are presumed loyal to the ideals of Eldurgrund. The last order of business was what to do with Epithet. His body was frozen over with hoarfrost by the completion of the battle and was presumed dead until Euvurcrest was deemed saved. Upon inspection, he had survived with no hints as to when he would awake. It was decided that he would be chained and sustained in stasis as a punishment until the war was over, as the humans still had little idea about how the Aufalten (a new concept at the time) would fit into the spirituality of their gods. He remained frozen on the uninhabited lake between Euvurcrest and Duerinilar, but escaped during the war between Shellbay and Eldurgrund.
