The Yem Alliance

The Yem alliance was a nation in the south east of Lasarian and were made of sixty tribes, cities, and small nations that eventually came to work together to form the alliance, with elders and leaders forming a council for its government. These nations and states all allied together out of fear of larger nations that could pose a threat to them, and also because the factions that made up the future alliance were on good terms with one another. The federal government gave lots of power to individual regions and towns as opposed to itself. This decision led to lots of sectionalism and different freedoms of all kinds within the alliance, for better or worse.   The Yems allowed lots of religious liberty. The continent of the alliance was where many pagans would go to practice their religions that may have been outlawed by other nations due to the practices. Many anathematized and heretical Christians also fled to the alliance to start their own churches, which would be separate from The Orthodox Church that forsook them. Heretical churches sprung up across the continent, and eventually thousands of non-orthodox and other religious bodies formed and thrived in the alliance. These churches worked together despite their differences, and they were simply referred to as The Yem Heretical Churches.   Despite the Yem alliance allying for protection against larger organizations like The Aiden League or Ral, they were not very strong. The Yems had a decent local infantry force, but their navy wasn't strong at all, and they had little equipment or weapons to use. As a result, they tried to be as peaceful as possible and would tend to be isolationist.   On the 281st of 1881 The Yem Alliance and Xararten made a pact with each other whileThe Ral War going on and Darian Terrorism were taking place. The two made a pact to remain neutral and ally together in the face of the conflict and war around them. The pact they made stated that the two were not to be involved in The Ral War, and an attack on one was an attack on both. The two even met with The Darian Pirates and gave them money not to attack their ships going through The Darian Isles.   The alliance would go on to be very long-lasting and stable, with them only having to deal with internal affairs and rarely being involved with foreign ones. A truly absent nation when it came to geopolitics. A nation that would endure and last throughout major conflicts because of their neutrality and isolation.
