Genetics and Reproduction

After an egg is laid it is taken to the village center where all eggs are held together, warmed under a blanket with a fire nearby. When hatched the children are seen as children to the village and not to any specific parent and everything concerning the children, protection, feeding and tutoring is a shared public responsability.

Courtship Ideals

A courtship is generally begun with mysterious messages of secret flirting. When two sumeralds find themselves in love they go away for themself in the mountains, having a soert of honeymoon, for about one month before they come back. If they live in different places they generally don't move together and if they live in the same village they won't become close friends after the honeymoon. Instead they may once again later do the same procedure to form a new relationship with each other, or find a new partner to go away with.

Relationship Ideals

Sumeralds live with friends, generally the ones made during the teenage years. In a partner sumeralds seek a bit of mysteriousness which generally means that they find an interest in the people in their community they have spent the least time with.
As for an ideal, most sumeralds long for a relationship with someone from afar, which for them means another village. It also happens, while not common also not weird, that sumeralds dream of relationships with other sulit sub-species which can be seen in their culture. There are a number of myths in where sumelrads meet and form bonds with other sulits, and sometimes even other species.
