Culture

Wessex is a strong mix of Saxon and Cymric culture, most of them have accepted the Cross and rides like knights themselves.

King Cerdic seeks to become the High King of Britain, as his father was before him.

History

The kingdom was founded by Cerdic, son of Vortigern, as he lead the Gewisse back into the lands of their ancestors. With fierce fighting, they took the lands of Hantonne, and settled in the ancient city of Venta Belgae, renaming it Winchester. In the years following, Cerdic took the Isle of Wright as well, adding a grand fleet to his already impressive navy.

Territories

Wessex have hold over the old areas of Hantonne, that streches from the Avon river in the west, to the River Lavant, near Noviomagus in the east. To the north, they share a border with Silchester across the South Downs. They also hold the Isle of Wight.

The West Saxons have a mix of knights and Saxons footmen.

Religion

Most of the people of Wessex have embraced the religion of the Cross, yet still pay homage to the Old Gods of their homeland.

Agriculture & Industry

The fields of Hantonne are fertile in the valleys, but the Weald is good for pastoral farming. There are also plenty of fishermen that have settled the coast.

Trade & Transport

The West Saxons have a lot of iron they trade with the mainlander Saxons and the Franks.
