Banreha (bahn reh 'hah)
Banreha is a city on the south western coast of mainland Leland. It is the largest city in Cesland and is known for its cultural diversity and robust trading industry, but the city has a dark and bloody past dating back to the Queendom of Leland.
History
Banreha began as a Cesnockwe fishing village, but would become the place of choice for those looking to trade from the Purple Foot Islands. The settlement grew as it began attracting Jincosa, Sounith, and even Rinduma traders in times of peace between the Rinduma and Cesnockwe.
Following The Great Invasion, Banreha became a southern capital of sorts. Due to its distance from the capital of the Queendom, Harmonil, Golden Nobles who came to control the city and surrounding areas treated it as their own playground with little pushback from the Crown. Banreha developed a reputation as the most dangerous place in Leland for non-imperants as common people were regularly Commanded into battling in conflicts between the houses. It is said that after a particularly violent afternoon, a hurricane that arrived the following day couldn't wash the blood from the streets even after battering the coast for three days. Due to its bloody history as Golden Noble playground, Banreha saw some of the worst of the anti-imperant rioting and executions following the fall of the Queendom in 711.
Recovery from the Queedom period was a long process, but the city did not want to completely forget its history. During rebuilding there were several monuments, gardens, and other memorials built across the city in addition to the use of blood-stained cobblestones in repairs. The city has since regained its reputation as a trading hub rather than the murder capital of southern Leland, though it still suffers from gang violence.
