Larum

(a.k.a. The Changer of Ways)

Portfolio

Larum is the Fragment of Lies and Trickery, but also Change. He is part of The First Five, but he has poor relations with the rest of the main pantheon, especially Sicere and Verio. He is not just the patron deity of liars, thieves and swindlers, but also anyone trying to bring about change. He is especially popular among humans who long for change more so than most other races. The younger generations who tend to harbor more revolutionists, often view Larum more favorably than others. The promise of not just power, but a change in power draws many disgruntled individuals to his faith.

Worshipers

His churches are often located underground, for example in cellars or dungeons. His faithful worship him in secret whilst plotting to overthrow those in power to bring about change. Few people would openly worship Larum, but many find his name on their lips after fate deals them a cruel blow such as a bad harvest or an untimely illness.   As a God associated with change, who rewards those who take risks, he is often associated with (mis)fortune as well. As such, people who take risks such as gamblers or adventurers who rely on a mixture of luck and skill can be counted among his faithful as well. His clergy are encouraged to aid these kinds of people, and can often be found at the center of a scheme or swindle.   While his faithful are more splintered than that of most other deities, there is one day during the year when they could be found together. During the changing of the seasons, from winter to spring, a time that represents new beginnings and change, the Wheldfall is held by his faithful. A day that is celebrated in revelery, with food and drink in excess.

Description

Most human cultures such as the Middenlanders and Sulvari depict him as a hunched man covered in scars and wearing rags. His portrayal also includes him wearing a blindfold and carrying manacles and chains around his wrists. This is in sharp contrast to his depiction as 'Ghull-har' by the Gray Dwarves, who depict him as a powerful dwarven freedom fighter with scars, bulging muscles and a well-kept grey beard. Ghull-har wears a black set of chainmail and he wields a large rune-inscribed warhammer called 'Ghuran', which roughly translates to 'Harbringer of Change'.
