Sicere
(a.k.a. The Merciful Mother, The Harvest Queen)
Portfolio
Sicere is the Fragment of Family, Fertility and Stability, but she also represents Vengeance in some myths. She is one of the The First Five and (usually) the most pacifistic among them. She is directly opposed to Larum and often in conflict with Argor. Verio however is a stalwart ally of hers and she gets along with Aurora well enough. She represents all things cultivated, and she is a nurturing Goddess who protects her people and guides them to the land's riches. She may actually have the most followers out of any God, but they are mostly unobtrusive farmers and other civilians, rather than grand adventurers and therefore the impact of her followers would appear to be less. The veracity of this statement is of course debatable, considering that mundane things like food are essential for things like grand armies and the like. While she is generally considered to be a compassionate, gentle and loving Goddess, she is neither weak nor a fool oblivious to the darkness of the world. But once slighted, she does not easily forgive. She is zealous in her beliefs and those who would carelessly disrupt the stability of things will earn her ire and find their lives slowly turn into a living hell. Once past the point of mercy, the Merciful Mother will either stomp out the transgressor or offer them a series of trials known as the Six-Leaved Branch as a last chance. If they pass her trial she will forgive them, perhaps even offer them a chance to become her Champion if they impressed her, but if they fail she will have them killed.Worshipers
Due to her domains she is especially popular in rural areas where things like stability and family are of great importance. She is worshiped most by common farmers, and many small villages take the effort to construct a small church or shrine to Sicere to pray for a bountiful harvest. Many of her priests are common folk as well, however some are Druids who try to maintain a balance between nature and the agricultural expansion of humanoids for the sake of stability. In smaller communities, her priest often seek to nurture a balance and kind of emphatic order within their communities, not just between people, but also between people and the land. People working in unison, with no severe conflict, is an ideal that should be pursued. Similarly, people working together in unison with nature, such as a wheel that harnesses the power of the river, is a thing of true beauty.Description
