Nivakta's Crossing

The southernmost village in Rostland, Nivakta's Crossing, is an alert town of tradesmen, hunters, fishermen, and trappers. The village itself is surrounded by a wooden palisade and is set on the northeastern bank of the Shrike River. A low bridge allows access over the river here to the wilderness to the south - the southwestern side of the bridge being fortified by well maintained guard towers.   The people of Nivakta's Crossing are sturdy, down to earth, and possess stunted senses of humour. Serious to a fault, they are somewhat suspicious of visitors from what they call "the South," but they're willing to take the PC's coin for trade nonetheless. This is the point at which Maegar Varn and mercenaries crossed the Shrike to head into the Nomen Heights some time ago.   Notable NPC's     House of Somber Graves

This grey stone structure sits with reserved dignity to the West of like an old dowager. It's Abbot, Kara Ilarenika, sees to the spirtual needs of Nivakta's Crossing and sits beside a small neatly kept graveyard filed with stone markers and a few mausoleums.

  The Golden Grocer

This shop holds all the supplies and goods which this small town could need and is managed by Larisa Popov

  The Fort

A sturdy wooden defensive structure overlooks the wooden bridge which crosses the Shrike backing up the fortified towers on the far shore. The main structure is essentially a wooden watchtower and two small structures surrounded by a wooden and earthen wall. Over the years these defenses have been tested by several attacks from the wild southern territory. And rumour suggests that the defenders have the ability to cut the bridge supports and drop any attackers attempting to cross into the cold, wild and turbulent waters of the Shrike. A dozen or so soliders under Sheriff Kaven serve from the fort.

  The Precious Gauntlet Tavern

This smoke filled tavern managed by Daniela Armaki and her husband Breven sits near the docks and it is a simple wooden structure with a heavy sloping roof, steeply pitched to shed the winter snow. When you enter you first pass through a smaller chamber with racks for boots and hooks for coats before making your way into an open common room. A low fire structure sits in the center of the room with the chimney stretching up into the dark smoke stained ceiling. Surrounding it are numerous wooden chairs, tables and low benches. You get the impression they were selected for their ease and cheapness of replacement.

There are three rooms for those who don't have a place to return to after several tankards of ale. Though common wisdom suggests anyone who used them should expect bed bugs

  Weavers Shop

This workshop where Chamaie Lerian spins fabric from locally produced fibers. Mostly goats wool but she does a good business in a soft cloth made of waxy fibers harvested from river rushes that grow along the Shrike. These reed wraps are typically used to secure foodstuffs. Most of the cheese produced at the Weeping Cat are shipped to Restov in cloth wraps.

  The Weeping Cat Creamery

This long low stone building sits on the east side of town just outside the pallisade. One of the newest structures in town having only been built three years ago. It does regular trade for dairy with local farmers; mostly goat but with a little bit of cows milk too. Every week or so a cart full of cheese is delivered to the markets of Restov. Typically with some Navaktan local riding along for a few coppers. The cheese runs have become a regular source of news and deliveries between Nivakta's Crossing and Restov.

  Haedon's Farm

This farm on the edge of town has a barn which provides shelter for travellers who chose not to take lodgings at the Precious Gauntlet
