Civilization and Culture

History

Once a major hub of trade and danger, the Obsidian Desert become home to a group of elves that found abundant mineral resources buried in the desert. Their explorations lead them to a massive oasis near the center of the sandy wasteland. The grand Elven Citadel-City of Malkorlith was built there and was at one point a major trade stop through the desert. After the destruction of the elven empire, those that remained formed nomadic tribes that now wander and survive in the harsh waste.

Many Dune elves of the nomadic tribes adorn their face with symbolism that represents their tribe. These marks are usually related to something that represents the founder of the tribe.

Age. Elves reach physical maturity around the age of twenty. Mental maturity and to be considered an adult by their peers is at 150 and can live to be 1200 years old.   Alignment. Elves love freedom, variety, and self-expression, so they lean strongly toward the aspects of chaos.   Size. Elves range from 6 to 7 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.   Darkvision. Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in the dark within 60 feet of you as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception skill.   Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.   Trance. Elves don't need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is "trance.") While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep. If you meditate during a long rest, you finish the rest after only 4 hours. You otherwise obey all the rules for a long rest; only the duration is changed.   Dune Weapon Training. You have proficiency with the glaive, scimitar, shortbow, and longbow.   Mirage Magic. You know the Minor Illusion cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast Disguise Self once, and it recharges after a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast Mirror Image once, and it recharges after a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells.   Discern Illusion. Your experience in the desert and experience with illusion magic has made you skilled at detecting false images. You have advantage when detecting visual illusions and advantage on saving throws against them.   Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Elven, and one extra language of your choosing.
