The grandmother to Lady Harper Marshlyn, Elder Harper Marshlyn and her husband never wished to have anything to do with the Noble lifestyle. Instead she chose to allow her more ruthless brother, Alan Marshlyn, to take over the province and left to have a quiet life in the town of Whiteridge. 
After years of relative peace when Harper's son Calvin was around 12, Alan came to Harper and confessed that his health was failing and he did not believe he would be able to produce an heir. Alan begged Harper to allow him to take Calvin with him to train him on how to be a proper Noble and Lord. Harper said no because she did not want Calvin to be part of that life and Alan reluctantly left. Days later Harper received word that Alan had fallen ill and requested her at his side. She rushed to Kence to see her brother and upon seeing him so sick she finally relented and agreed that once Alan was back on his feet she would send Calvin to begin his training under him. Whenever asked about it Harper would say that sending Calvin to become the next Lord Marshlyn was one of her biggest regrets. 
After Harper's parents died, Elder Harper took in their child and raised her until her passing in 1593.
