Criminal Activity
Gle'n, Hex, Kai, Khev, Mak, and Snell happened upon the green kobold's escape attempt from the Redbands. They stopped him and Hex picked up the very old children's book it was carrying called The Canticle of Quell. They met the kobold's interrogator, Gle'n's psionic son Gob, and stealthily followed him to listen in on a meeting with their boss Crimson Masters. Crimson wanted the kobold to lead them back to where he found the book to get them another one; Darryl Berry's lost third journal. "Ah," Crimson confirmed from the kobold, "Hornswoggle."
The strip mall contained space for three storefronts. On the right was Jimmy's Bodega and on the left was Scum Bum Ink, but the middle storefront was unoccupied, filled with illusion glass showing how many wonderful kinds of stores could fill it. Kai's eyes filled with stars, he knew he could start his own dojo there. The illusion glass shattered! The green kobold, the same one Gle'n, Hex, Kai, Khev, Mak, and Snell were involved with back at Mickey Feasts, broke through -- revealing the inside to truly be empty save for the torture chair the kobold was strapped to. He fell to the deck face first, dropping a book out of his mouth. Hex cocked his head to the side and saw the title of the book; The Canticle of Quell. It looked extremely old. He instinctively grabbed it. The others instinctively grabbed the kobold. A gruff voice thanked them from inside the building. A tattooed tortle stepped out with two goblins, all wearing red armbands, and stopped in his tracks when he got one look at Gle'n. "Gob!?" Gle'n shouted at the sight of his son. A high ranking redband. A psionic. Torturing people! "When I tell your mother!" Gob begged him not to and told them what the Redband's goal was here. They thought the green kobold had obtained Darryl Berry's lost third journal for his people. It had long been thought to contain the secrets to how the dragons were created in the first place and how to make more. Enough more to change the balance of power on the Council of Dragons created by the Bonner Boys. "The Bonner Boys aren't real!" Gle'n yelled at his son. Nevertheless, it was the wrong book and Gob had to leave with the goblins. Nobody felt comfortable with that, and so the party stealthily tracked him out through Bog Bottom, along the edge of Antiquity proper, until he entered the remains of a lighthouse -- the same lighthouse Mak grew up in. It was where he lived with his dad until a terrible storm, a monsoon, blew through town. The lighthouse was destroyed and Mak discovered a giant clam over his father's body. Now a gang was using his home as a covert meeting space. Gle'n used his umbrella of flying to spy on the meeting between Gob and... an efreeti flanked by his genasi son. The man in charge of the Redbands. He gave Gob a pearl of power, allowing him to delve into the kobold's mind once more. Where did he find the book? The final resting place of the Bonner Boys. "Was the journal there? Where was it!?" Gob muttered the answer he gleamed to the boss. "Ah." He said, "Hornswoggle." Gob sensed Gle'n in the sky above him and the party ran for it, but not before they slashed the tires on the boss's limosine.
