The First Council of Dragons

Gathering / Conference

5
22/9

All ten dragons and their bonds meet to create a new era of peace among them and in harmony with Loom.

Three horses drag a figurehead behind them as Lyr, Danger, and Daryl ride toward Haven Battlefield. It’s there they will hold their council. The horse Lyr rides atop comes out of control, it was Indigo’s after all, and attempts to sprint loose. Lyr gets control of the horse again, but he and the others also sense something coming. A pop, a gust of wind, and Indigo Fury steps around the bend.   He’s dressed far more elegantly than before, with a crystal staff by his side and eyes that gleam with rings of lunar moonlight around their irises. He tells them he’s made a deal with the Moonlit King. A few jobs for their escape during the heist at Duintal. Lyr is distrusting, but the others have confidence in their friend. It’s enough that he’s here for the council. Besides, Indigo holds the River King’s crown.   Letters from the other dragons flood in as The Bonner Boys arrive at Haven Battlefield. They’re all going to attend. Lawrence Aarden requests Demi be brought along, so Indigo tells Braes to bring her. Leonis writes more as well, advising them to have a plan for every element of decorum in this council. This isn’t hyperbole to call the Council of Dragons the most dangerous mission they’ve ever gone on.   Sable arrives with his Black Dragonborn. While the dragon giddily accepts the banner of the Pearl Tower, convinced it’s from a fallen civilization, his dragonborn introduces himself as Bastion. The Dark Elf from the dungeons. He gave up his being to save his people, now without a purpose he thinks “Councilor” might fit him.   Ivory arrives and snatches the figurehead away, leaving Snow Hide to speak with Danger. She’s short on words and refuses to part with her Berserker Axe, threatening violence if they take it away. Fine, weapons will be allowed in the meeting. Danger worries about the effect of the Berserker Axe.   Cyrpium Aes, the Copper Dragon, turns out to be delighted to meet Daryl. She absolutely loves Bards and has heard many tales of his adventures. Her bond, Ozan, awkwardly introduces himself to Daryl as Demi’s boyfriend. He’s here to protect her and help in any way he can.   Birinj isn’t a fan of the council. He’s a warrior against the darkness who believes you can’t strike a deal with evil. Bran or Cole, meanwhile, has been slowly regaining his memory. He’s a little too distracted by this for political maneuvers.   Gould is interested to see how this all goes. Leonis merely defers to the party. They are the victors after all. However, he maintains they be prepared to attempt the Canticle if this doesn’t work. They agree, but this is absolutely worth a try.   Braes brings Demi who runs to greet Daryl and Ozan, her two guys. Braes senses something off about Indigo, but they don’t have time.   Virescent gets as close to Demi as she possibly can. How can something so soft be such a threat? Aarden steps up to them as well and makes it clear that he is best suited for this particular battlefield. He is the only politician bonded to a dragon after all. Yet in his eyes, he looks completely broken. It’s hard to tell if the man they met so long ago is still in there.   Sanguine calls the party’s gift to him an admission of his superiority. After all, they ran from their last encounter. Koster shows off the new warhammer he carries, the Hammer of Thunderbolts. One so heavy, nobody has ever lifted it before. He wants them to know they destroyed the Dwarf capital just to acquire it. He threatens Daryl, but Bastion interrupts to call Koster a petulant child. Koster steps off.   Seolfor is confident in the Council of Dragons. In fact she’s proud of the party for thinking of it. Ilmatar, who has only that morning officially bonded with Seolfor, believes that she was chosen to be here today.   Finally Cerulean arrives. This is Daryl calling in the favor she owes him, nothing more.   After building a dais to stand upon, the council gathers. They exclude Lyr and Danger. Only those bonded with dragons beyond this point. The terms are clear. Dragons are to stay in their lane, their lairs, or else the others will come down on them. Sure, Sanguine and Gould are the strongest dragons, but not even they can take on enough of their siblings alone. The metallics all stand united, and the chromatics are so divided that they would easily turn on each other. All Dragonborn will relinquish any public office they hold, or else the same fate will apply to them. This is their job now, police themselves or else all of society will see them as threats and bring war against them.   It’s a threat to be clear. An attempt to find peace in fear. And after much deliberation it works. All parties agree to the terms, but on a condition. They don’t want to be alone in the world. They will also begin searching for the means to create new dragons.   Once the meeting ends, everyone flies off in different directions. Ozan leaves with Demi. Cerulean tells Daryl she kind of missed them. If they need her in an emergency sometime down the line, she’ll be there. Danger tries to speak with Snow Hide. She asks about their son but makes it clear she can’t go to see him. Danger vows to figure out what’s happened to her and free her from the Berserker Axe. The last dragon there is Braes. He takes Indigo to the side and asks what’s happened to him. Indigo tells Braes the Moonlit King ordered him to pass along a special object. He pulls a large chunk of darkness, a Shadow Seed, from his garb and gives it to the dragon. For a moment, he attempts to take it back, but the dragon is intrigued. Braes takes it back to his lair.   Whatever may happen tomorrow is a mystery, but for now Daryl, Danger, Indigo, and Lyr have done the impossible. They made peace.
