Medusa
Medusa is the daughter of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Ilion, though she has lost all ties to her family for the past four years. She was known for being beautiful, and a very devout priestess to Athena who spent much of her days in the temple. One day, four years ago, Medusa was suddenly and violently changed, cursed with serpent-like features and her hair replaced by snakes. She had become a gorgon.
To hear the story told by some, Medusa was seduced by one of the gods. She met him Athena's Temple in secret, where she gave herself to him. Athena, insulted by such an egregious betrayal by one of her virgin priestesses, cursed Medusa by transforming her into a gorgon -- a monster that could turn any mortal to stone simply by looking into their eyes. She would never be able to connect with another person again.
The story nobody knows, not even Medusa's own family, is somewhat different. The god attempted to seduce Medusa, but she refused his advances at every turn. He became enraged, and he was the one who cursed her with the form of the gorgon. If he could not have her, nobody could.
After she was changed, there was no staying in Ilion. She fled in the night, with only the barest assistance from her parents, and has not been seen nor heard from since.
In isolation, Medusa has grown cold to protect her own heart.
Note: Helenus and Kassandra, as small children, used to call her "Su-Su" because they couldn't pronounce her name correctly.
