Queen Hecuba of Ilion

Queen Hecuba of Ilion is regarded by many as the soothing balm to King Priam's stern persona. She presents as a diplomatic leader, well-loved by not only the people of Ilion, but also the leaders of neighboring countries who remain strong allies. A devout follower of Athena, Hecuba has tried to teach her children to be well-spoken and to think before acting. In her mind, wisdom comes to those who measure the circumstances around them before making rash decisions.   Hecuba is a powerful and strong woman in a quiet fashion, leading with grace and affording respect to all who encounter her. She has used this gentle but firm hand in the rearing of her children. She has a great deal of love for all of her children, and mourns the loss of her daughters who have left the family, but has ultimately placed the value of a strong family reputation over that grief. She believes it a necessary price to pay to keep strong ties with Ilion's military allies. As such, when both Medusa and Kassandra were changed by the power of the gods and left Ilion, she kissed them each on the cheeks, gave them money to start their journey, and has since spent every day praying to Athena for their safety.
