Hyannis

Hyannis is an Ustalavic coal-mining settlement in the county of Versex; the forlorn shacks of the villagers are set on the edge of the Hungry Mountains near to the source of the Danver River.

Appearance

Hyannis feels destitute, having a dirty stream of water flowing down the middle of the road. Everyone appears tired, dirty, and disinterested in the group as they make their way through town. The buildings are in various states of disrepair and neglect. The continual smell of sulfur and sewage that can be noticed while on the road is much more intense and ever-present.

History

A band of five mountain dwarves that started this settlement many years ago, running it as a mining town that relies on the various minerals and metals that they bring out of the mine. The dwarf who lead this band, Svingal Halfbeard, is still the leader of the town.

General

The whole town caters solely to the miners that work here and Halfbeard's word is taken as law. However, word is that it is easier to speak to Lytha Boldbrow, the woman who birthed two of his children, as he does pay her mind. But the Fellowship learned that it appears that Lytha has assumed Svingal's identity and is running the town herself with a band of dwarven thugs at her side. It becomes quickly apparent that Lytha runs and encourages the seedier elements of Hyannis, including protection rackets and possibly even slavery in the minds. When the Fellowship met with her to ask about the Dark Riders, she wanted nothing more than for them to leave town as quickly as possible.   The village and the mines are still haunted by the greenish spectre of the witch called Black Aggie, whom the villagers rose up against nearly forty years ago; they ripped the monster to pieces then burnt her before casting her remains into an abandoned mine. Worse than the hauntings, though, are the miners who become possessed by what is considered Black Aggie's suffocating breath.   It was here as well where the Fellowship of the Sun first met Drago's friend and new party member, Velexander.
