Shadow Walkers are among the only races that call the
Shadowfeld their home, but they are also found on the
Prime Material Plane. The varying races below are all connected to the decomposing, but undying nature of the plane of negative energy. In most cases these races are seen as creepy or unwelcome by those inhabitants of the cities of the material plane and so this is why many of the Shadow Walkers choose to attempt to blend in with normal
Humanoids. The
Dhampir are a race of Vampire kin that are either born to vampire spawn or are vampire spawn themselves. They have the ability to steal some of the life essence of others to make themselves stronger as well. The
Revalich are a race composed of individuals that only band together with other peoples when there is a common goal or their own desires are beyond their reach. They are often held together by their unholy desire for vengeance or whatever compels their withering physical forms to persist.
Immortous are for all intents and purposes other
Humanoids whom were cursed (or blessed) with the feature of Immortality. Although losing part of themselves in the process, this race is more of a collection of other races all with the same condition, than one archetypical type of people. This being said they are still often found wandering the world and have a difficult time holding onto any group of friends for very long.
Races
The spawn of vampires and their own spawn, the Dhampir are a race to be feared. Not only are the Dhampir likely to want to feed off of other peoples, but they always carry the threat of a real Vampire to be lurking around the next corner. Dhampir are a graceful, charming, and beautiful people with sharp fangs and veracious appetites. Just as you would expect their lust for blood keeps them constantly in trouble and their physical adaptations means they fear many things themselves, as well as being better than you at many others. Whether a lost vampire kin or a fledgling to a great vampire lord, the Dhampir are always distrusted and watched wherever they roam.
Immortous are created through a powerful curse or maybe a sought after boon, but regardless it has resulted in them being given the ability of immortality. Immortous were common in the days of old and often served as servants to powerful gods, deities, and even titans, but now have become incredibly rare on the
Prime Material Plane. Outside of a few smaller towns in the
Shadowfeld, Immortous are incredibly lonesome and solitary beings, however, finding them in cities isn't unusual. Their loneliness stems from their inability to grow or age with those around them. This race of differing people will watch as their friends age and die, while their own bodies seem to stay unchanged. Immortous don't always wander as an undying member of their respective races; some become pillars of their societies and reside in council chambers or as steady shaman in small villages.
The Revalich are a tricky bunch. Their bodies are decayed and fractured, often times showing the normal abilities of a healthy humanoid, but giving the look of a walking corpse. The Revalich are a race that is not born, but created. Sometimes the inhabit the bodies of their own selves after death and other times, they are simply borrowing a body from a nearby cemetery. The only thing a Revalich shares with another member of their race is their unwavering and intense desire to achieve a goal. Whether it is vengeance, revenge, or triumph; the Revalich are physically held together by their force of will. This isn't achievable by just anyone mind you, it can only be done by the most persistent and unstopping individuals to have ever died. Whether through a magical loophole of the universe, an outsmarting of the
Raven Queen, or a deal made with a powerful entity, the Revalich have found a way to return their soul to a mortal coil. They do not age, they do not rest, they can only hope to achieve there twisted desires or be destroyed trying.
