28th Session
General Summary
It's been 2 days since the attack in session 26, Colonel Stoneface does come to breakfast today and has a tense conversation with Mattis who mentions he will be meeting with his assistants this morning to discuss the needs of the children at Ilknur's Academy for the Sensory Impaired. Galla comes in and announces that "Eiri" wants to go to the beach. The Colonel dismisses it out of hand, but between Mattis saying she's going to go crazy coped up in her room, Galla pointing out that the private beach is easily secured and the party's support, the Colonel relents and allows it. He cannot come as he is going into Nova Epoch to work with city and garrison leaders on security and speaking to the populous on the princess's importance to him and the Time Clan.
The Colonel's plan is to hold for reinforcements and then go after the Society of the Golden Sun and the Iron Path. He doesn't want to go now as all he has is the party. He does bring the party 2 silver daggers and a silver longsword. He puts a silver earring in his ear.
Ellie checks in on Nova who is no longer tied to a chair, but is chained and locked in a closet. She gets him some food and a few books and talks to him about his identity and appearance. She tells him to change from Maria's face, but for goodness sake, not the Colonel's face! He agrees to try to come up with a new face. He thinks he was male and is going to try to be a dwarf. Ellie asks Galla for some dwarf clothes which she has and gives without question. Very plain clothes for a built male dwarf.
Caspian stays at the top of stairs on the cliff and the rest comes down, the princess in her veil hat. She frets a bit that the Colonel isn't there yet. The party misunderstands with Theo replying that he wouldn't enjoy it anyway. The princess clarifies that "the colonel" was supposed to get to Elkhorn Court yesterday. Ellie is horrified as she realizes that Goldblade hasn't gone to see her yet and proceeds to explain to her that he's been at the manor for over a day. The princess gets really sad and quiet as Galla dies a little inside. Eirianwen says she wants to see him and isn't deterred when she learns he's in the city. Theo puts his foot down and says he would do everything within his power to prevent her from going.
Eirianwen laments that she just wants the Colonel's attention; she doesn't seem angry, just heartbroken. The party gets brainstorming on how to make that happen. Suggestions range from interrupting his dinner to barging into his bedroom they finally settle on a special dinner for the two Old Ones with Tasha playing mood music followed by dancing. A lot of thought was given to where this dinner would take place and the logistics of it as the princess drafts a invitation for the Colonel. After a brief swim, they return to the manor to implement the plans.
The party gets the house staff in on it. Most are happy to do it; two of them think it is pointless, but the ball room is set up for the night. Tasha shows Ellie the pictures albums she found in the locked storeroom of Goldblade's childhood with plenty of them with a smiling blond boy. After which, Ellie checks in on Nova again and discovers he can't read very well and he is trying on an novel face.
Mattis's return in the late afternoon is soon eclipsed by the Colonel's who quickly confirms his identity by asking where's "triple T" and silver earring. Goldblade is delivered the invitation to dinner on a golden platter by the butler. He reads it before going to his quarters. Ellie walks with Mattis to his room and fills him in on the plan. He takes it in stride and asks if she needs him to do anything. She says possibly convince the man to come. Caspian is sent off to gather flowers. Eirianwen comes down wearing a beautiful silk dress Galla made her which she looks amazing in. Caspian gives the Colonel a bouquet, saying the butler told him to do it. Goldblade takes a blue flower out and gives the rest back before entering the ball room and the veiled woman waiting for him.
The intimate dinner goes smoothly while Tasha plays romantic music on her lute. Eirianwen does complement his shorter hair and growing bread, but also says he was fine before. After the dessert the princess mentions she would like to dance and Tasha plays a jig, to which Colonel Stoneface does in fact dance with some akwardness. Tasha plays a wonderful waltz next and the two dance phenomenally, with Stoneface finding his groove towards the middle of it. He walks her to her quarters before retiring to his.
Ellie, spent the evening helping Nova learn to read better. After the date, Ellie visits the princess in her room and asks how her evening with the Colonel went. The royal calls it "nice" and that she would do it again. Ellie, satifisied with that answer goes to giggle and skweee with Tasha.
TLDR: The party goes to the beach with the princess and Galla. The Colonel goes into the city to coordinate security. Mattis meets with his assisstants. The party plans a date for the princess and the Colonel as she is heartbroken he hasn't talked to her yet. The date goes well for the princess.
