Tragedy of Dougan's Hole

The Antiquarian Association passes through Dougan's Hole on their way to Viad Glaciar. Following news of the Dougan's Hole speaker not attending the Kalte Speaker's Conference of MS 5097  , they stop in to investigate.

They find everyone dead, at the Twenty Stones of Thruun.

As they investigate the town, they find the homes and buildings abandoned. The empty homes appear well maintained, though a number of them stand with doors ajar, snow gusting in across the floor.

They continue their search and find the corpses of all 45 occupants of the town are laying within the Twenty Stones of Thruun. Velynne Harpell performs necromancy on one of the town's dead citizens to find that they all awoke in the middle of one evening, and were magically compelled to attend a demonic rite.  But the rite, instead of providing for the town, drained them of their lives and they collapsed where they stood.

The Antiquarian Association finds a magical knife in the hands of a dead town citizen. The knife has markings that indicate it was dedicated to a demon, for carrying out his will. They destroy the knife and leave the empty village behind.
