Sanctyra
(sankh-TEE-ra) Located in the northwest tip of East Ymmarion, Sanctyra is one of the "Three Kingdoms" dominated by humans. Its is a land of firm religious conviction that takes great pride in its various technical advancements. Abolishing the practice of the arcane arts centuries ago, Sanctyra has harnessed the power of elemental energy to power machines, mechanisms, and automatons that serve its people. Sanctyran society is rigidly ordered and can be fiercely nationalistic.
Culture
Sanctyrans believe that order is the surest way to prosperity and happiness. This general belief has led them to embrace both the ritual and routine of organized religion and the predictable mechanics of engineering. After a series of cataclysmic events that nearly destroyed the human kingdoms, Sanctyrans abolished all arcane magic within their dominion. This led them to focus on divine sources of magic and technology. Sanctyran's take great pride in their innovations, and see artificing as a "natural" expression of humanity's mastery over the forces of nature and the arcane. Protecting their technological secrets is a matter of gravest national security to Sanctyra and stealing or selling these secrets is a capital crime. Generally speaking, the Sanctyran cultural aesthetic toward Order causes many outsiders to view them as somewhat predictable, and not altogether welcoming to foreigners.
History
Before it was its own kingdom, Sanctryra played a key role in The Grand Uprising, allowing humans to gain a permanent foothold in East Ymmarion, and establishing itself as the first permanent human kingdom. During the Fractured Epoch, strife within its borders caused Sanctyra to split into what is know commonly referred to as the Three Kingdoms. It was also during this Age when Sanctyra forbid arcane spellcasting.
