Ginnunga (gin-oong-uh, hard G)

No Lamb for a Lazy Wolf

After Per Archetypis left the original civilization after its collapse, the remaining Dwarves and Humans built Ginnunga from the ashes of what was left. Ginnunga is located on the dry side of the mountains and is host to long stretches of open grassland and desert where people try meagerly to eek out some type of crop from the land. The people mainly get their sustenance from the Sea, while most other materials are got from raids into the Wildlands. The one thing Ginnunga is rich in is ores and metals. The Ginnhavian mines are the best in the world, supplying the majority of materials for artisan crafts involving jewels and metal work. Ginnunga prizes martial combat above all else. Those who are strong, good leaders, and can prove themselves capable in battle will rise quickly. This is how the currently ruler, Jarl Jovi, made his name. He is the latest descendant in a long line of rulers, the Ynglings. A family line that stretches back to the the first Humans ever created. It is said that the Ynglings' ancestor was champion to the god Freyr. As such, Freyr is worshipped in Ginnunga above all others.
The biggest city in Ginnunga is Daufala. It is here that the government resides, and all the goods made from gem and stone and metal are gathered and shipped to Verkauf and Jemos . Furthermore, it is in Daufala that a dialect of Common has become incredibly popular called Volksprechen. The people of Ginnunga are incredibly resilient, most of them not a stranger to tough times and hardship. Being able to endure with your head held high and in a respectable manner is akin to nobles bathing for the Ginnhavians. It's just what decent people do. Honor is something not taken lightly in these parts, a slight to someone's Honor will most certainly lead to retribution: this is also just what a decent Ginnhavian does.
