Centurion

The leader of a century responsible for issuing commands to their men and making sure they accomplish the tasks needed to win a battle or ensure the safety and well being of their encampment. They charge into battle at the front of the century, leading by example.

Composition

Manpower

There are only two centurions for every century. They are trained officers who have proven themselves to be competent battlefield tacticians and as such only a few legionnaires are promoted to the position.

Equipment

Centurions are equipped like a standard legionnaire with better gear and a few extra items. They are equipped with potions of keen senses to increase their ability to view the battlefield and make much better informed decisions. They are also given a few extra protections to make them harder to hit and damage or be affected by mind affecting effects.

Structure

Centurions are in control of their century able to order them as they see fit to accomplish the tasks given to them by their primi ordine or legate. Centurion is the highest non mythic position that can be achieved before needing to be elected by the Sentinels or Council of Alternates.

Tactics

Centurions are well versed in the legions standard practices and as such follow it until it no longer is effective in the combat. Centurions are meant to follow orders, but are allowed to think on their feet and make decisions when they think there is an opening they can take. Centurions are told to be extremely cautious when making these decisions and are told to never overextend.

Training

Centurions are well trained and drilled and are much more extensively trained in battlefield tactics and troop movements. They are also taught a small amount about logistics so they can help transport supplies should the situation need it. On top of this they are taught the schematics of basic fortification construction such as where to dig trenches, where to place entrances, and the dimensions needed for various troop sizes.
