Pthalo, Goddess of Love and Frienship

Pthalo is a goddess with a large and somewhat diverse Portfolio. She is the patron of Families, Friends, and the emotional aspects of Love (Lust controls the physical aspects). She is also the patron of healing, since the death of Viridian, her daughter. She is also the wife of Mittierim.
Pthalo is the feeling of belonging and community that all good races share. She is the goddess of romantics and communities. Her followers are many and varied, and comprised of nearly all of the civilized races of Meaghana. Because of this she is one of the strongest of the Minor Gods.

Holy Books & Codes

Surprisingly there is only one book that is considered sacred by the Pthalonians, the Tome of Rannoch. This book was written as a diary of sorts, by Pthalo herself, when she was forced to fight in the Chaos War against her own brother, Rannoch. The book goes into great detail of the sorrow that Pthalo felt for her brother's actions, and the road that she traveled to eventually turn him away from the side of evil. It is from this tome that the Pthalonians draw nearly all of their Theology and their peaceful philosophy.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The holy symbol of the priests of Pthalo is a blue crescent moon pendent. This pendent is made of blue quartz.

Tenets of Faith

The priesthood of Pthalo believes that there is no greater power than the bonds between people. They believe that these bonds are holy, for even the god's love. The priests range from friendly helpers and the most trustworthy of allies to the most irresistible seductresses. They seek to bring peace and love to the world, and wish and end to violence, as it is hard to befriend someone who is trying to kill you. The church of Pthalo is rife with bards and poets. Most of the priests of Pthalo are also physically beautiful, and believe that such beauty is a gift from Pthalo herself. This tends to make them slightly vain. Pthalo has given them only one commandment: Show love to all, even your enemies, if you must kill do so with mercy.
The Theology of Pthalo is a simple one to explain, but incredibly difficult to live in a world of violence such as Meaghana. The aim of the church is to extend a hand of fellowship to all beings regardless of race or creed. The Pthalonians believe that if all beings came to understand and treasure each others differences then no suffering would ever occur. It is worth noting however that while some Pthalonians are pacifists, this is the minority. The Pthalonians realize that there are times with the innocent must be defended and the guilty must be punished, and while they mourn this fact they do not shy away from it. This is particularly true of the clerics of evil gods (especially Omadon) and the forces of Hell. The vehemence with which the Pthalonians oppose these forces has surprised many that do not know of their ways.
