Ariton
Ariton is a small, arid, agricultural town n the southernmost area of the South Passolan Grasslands. It's mainly populated by Humans with a rural lifestyle, hardworking farming families. It was founded sometime in the middle of the first age, as suggested by the early depictions of Dagdaethon, God of Agriculture found in the earliest burial sites of the town.
Demographics
The majority of the towns populace are human, however there are thriving communities of half-orcs and half-elves here. It's not unusual to see the occasional elf, dwarf or sahlahkesh either. The majority of the residents here are farmers and have been for generations, but there are a small minority of traders, merchants and administrators that work with the mayor to distribute the local produce to The Empire.
Government
The town is led by a democratically elected Mayor who oversees the general trade and dealings of the town alongside a council of merchants and administrators that offer advice and input.
Industry & Trade
The majority of Ariton's income comes fromt he trade of agricultural produce. Some of this is crops, but a lot comes from wool and various meats. Ariton is one of the key food suppliers for the Meintalian leg of the Empire.
Infrastructure
The town is fairly closeknit, with houses being built in close proximity to maximise the amount of usable land. Houses tend to be smaller than average, buit suitable for the families living here. There are several large buildings used as grain stores and livestock sheds scattered throughout the town, and in the centre is the town hall and a large market hall where locals buy and sell produce between themselves and passing travellers.
Architecture
Most of the buildings here are a combination of wood and stone, with stone being laid as the foundations and lower walls of the buildings and wood making the upper walls, roofs and supports. It's a typical Imperial human made settlement.
Geography
Arid sits adjacent to the River Ryvern on a flat mass of arid, arable land.
