Kaspitov
The capital of
Arialor and one of the oldest cities in Mellanvärlden, tracing it's foundation all the way back to the days of Ellardia † and the Engelian Empire †. Kaspitov is built on top of the Hill of Tarnassos and surrounded by all sides but the east by the rivers Ager, Blady and Zielony, all of which contribute for Kaspitov's reputation as a fluvial trade center.
However, the city hardly sticks out amongst the major cities of Människar, for despite it's age, Kaspitov struggled greatly to withstand the test of time, suffering numerous disasters throughout history, such as invasions, fires, large epidemics, corrupt governments and more. The capital sprawls across several kilometers in all directions, branching away from the Palace of Thorns, located centrally and looming above the hill with tall walls and towers. Nevertheless, most of the city is also walled by shorter, yet thick walls of yellowish limestone, which gives the city a yellow-amber glow when bathed by the sunlight of dawn and dusk. Many areas of the city lay abandoned, ruins of ancient times or flooded shanty towns.
Infrastructure
The areas closer to the Palace of Thorns are sturdy, safe and citizens can enjoy a somewhat comfortable lifestyle. However, the further one gets from the center, districts become poorer and many areas lie uninhabited, either taken by treasure hunters or criminal organizations, the latter which are mostly kept in check by the
Order of the Larian Blade.
Guilds and Factions
Kaspitov is the headquarters of the
Order of the Larian Blade, a knight and religious order that seeks to maintain the peace, justice and above all, to enforce the arialist faith. The city's guards are comprised by a mix of members from the Order and guards that serve under the crown of Arialor.
