Election Time in Lorath, Continued

Free City of Lorath | Sentry
Seresha's journey began at Shalorath, the “great city” of the Lorathi Mainland. The city was maybe a fifth of the size of Lorath and outside of the harbor it was slowly crumbling away. The Markets had a decent selection of products but the awful smell of the whale market permeated every building.   She was glad when their caravan finally departed for Limaosy. The caravan was quite large being formed up of supply wagons and the original residents of Limosay. The heads of the notable families already began vying for her favor. When free of their obsessive politicking, the journey was quite enjoyable.   The Thistle Moors were sparsely populated, excluding the road there was little evidence of human habitation. The tall grasses and wildflowers danced in the near constant wind that swept the plain. The wind had a cold bite to it especially at night when they made camp. She and Odile enjoyed the idyllic countryside; it was a nice change from the clustered and noisy streets of Lorath.   After a month's journey they finally arrived at Limosay. The town had certainly seen better days. The stone walls had fallen into disrepair and more resembled a fence rather than a wall. The town's center market was filled with grazing goats instead of merchant stalls. The City Hall had been turned into an ad hoc armory for the local militia.   Beyond the town's structural problems, there was the matter of rehousing the refugees. It would be hard to convince them to leave their temporary shelters for tents especially with the approaching winter. However if the town was to prosper she needed the workshops to be reopened.
