Laws of the Republic of Dezaria

As judged by the eyes of the local lawmaster, appointed hands of that lawmaster, or the Law Bearer themself, any criminals discovered and/or convicted of crimes within local halls of judgment throughout the republic are subject to punishments befitting the crime. All fines and punishments for crimes against a state appointed member, Grand Army soldier, or noble are doubled. All fines and punishments regarding crimes against an state official are tripled.

• Drawing a weapon: 5gp.


• Disturbing the peace: 1-3 days incarceration and/or of 5 gp to 15gp.


• Theft: 5–10 days incarceration and/or a fine of twice the worth of the stolen goods.


• Ownership of another intelligent humanoid creature: 12–20 months incarceration and a fine of 1,500 gp.


• Trespassing: 7 days incarceration and/or a fine of 200 gp.


• Failure to pay Contribution to the State: 7–28 days incarceration and a repossession of property equal to the amount owed.


• Damage to private property: 3–14 days incarceration or a fine of twice the worth of property destroyed.


• Damage to State property: 14–49 days incarceration and a fine of twice the worth of property destroyed.


• Blackmail: 7-42 days incarceration and/or a fine of 150-600 gp.


• Kidnapping & Ransom: 49 days incarceration and/or a fine of 750 gp.


• Assault with intent to injure: 7-28 days incarceration and/or a fine of 150-350 gp.


• Assault with intent to kill: 245 days incarceration and/or a fine of 500-1,000 gp, or execution.


• Murder: 8–15 years incarceration and/or a fine of 6,000 gp, or execution.


• Treason against the State: execution.


• Use of Magic:Magic users will be apprehended and transferred to the authority of an authorised Witch Hunter for further review and punishment.

The Merrian Racial Accords

In the event that the criminal action is against a species not listed under the Merrian Racial Accords , the lawmaster may reduce or nullify the fine and puishment. Any being not listed under the Accord which undertakes an unlawful act may be dealt with in any way, either by the victim, its associates, or any other lawful party, as they do not fall under the protection of the law.

Amendment of 4397

There is a part of the law which provides special allowance for actions outside of the law by the Soulguard and licensed Witch Hunters which will not carry consequences outlined above. Where possible, such action would need to be firstly sanctioned by the local City Watch, Mer or other State official, depending on the required action. However, in extreme situations, this sanction may be applied retrospectively after the action has been undertaken.
