Lady Natathariél Bethgond
Lady of House Noirin, Council to the Queen Liriél
A tough and wily politician, the Lady of Dol Noirin is
one of the most powerful women in Arthedain, save Lady Finduilas and
Queen Liriel. She had married Prince
Hälvered of Gondor, a younger son of King Mendecil
II, who gave her three children and died of complications
due to his many many vices. Rather than remain a widow on the
periphery of the court in Osgiliath, Natathariél returned to
Arthedain. Her older son Pelendur and twin sister Pelenwen came with her. Pelendur now commands the Barrow Guard of Tyrn Gorthad and sits as her heir apparent.
When her father passed away a year later, Natathariél took
firm control of the family lands and held them against all solidifying her control with a marriage to the fourth prince Cathandril. Thus she
has been a Hîr of House Noirin for fifty years and has
lost neither her deft political skills nor her aggressive,
overbearing personality.
Grey-haired and thinner then is usual amongst the
Dúnedain, Natathariél is still vigorous enough to go riding
daily with the younger folk of her retinue. Besides the
swarms of visiting great-grandchildren and occasional
scholars from Fornost, she is always in the company of
Prince Cathandril, once the captain of her personal guard. Since thier marriage she has spent most of her time in the capital of Annuminas waiting upon the queen and siphoning the courts gossip.
