Lord Hirluin Nencar

A captain of the Feryth Aran, the royal company
of rangers, Hirluin is steadfast in the face of his fathers sins, having lost and spent the familys fortune in less than a decade. His elder brother having committed suicide when he unearthed the
truth, Hirluin aided by his personal fame and reputation for
integrity attempted to salvage House Nencar (S. "Emerië"). Since then, hard work
by his grandmother and several cousins has stabilized the
family's finances, while Hirluin (S. Telcrist "Broad-Gazed") provided a dignified
front. Hirluin's political impact has been lessened by the
problems of his House, but he is now becoming more
active in council. The Hiraratar is pressing King Arveleg
for a more active raiding policy even as the other lords are
giving up onan active offensive. Somewhat naive, Hirluin is bright
enough to learn the ways of politics and the court.
Big, rugged, dark haired, and full-faced, Hirluin is
imposing in spite of his somewhat awkward manners. Few
would guess that this largish, close-mouthed fellow had
slain an Olog single-handed and stood in the streets of
Carn Dûm while the Witch-king himself rode through on
parade. Instinctively self-mocking, Hirluin favors
drab garb at inappropriate times, misses his
cues at court ceremonies, and is troubled by the
way these habits cause women to try to mother
him.
Hirluin wedded his wife Pelenwen for
financial reasons though the marriage improved and blossomed with time. She writes long letters to her sisters and Hirluin concerning
family and political matters and as the days pass an occasional love poem. Hirluin also has many friends in the Royal Rangers, and they act as a second network
that he uses to good effect knowing Nelladel, Cathandril, and Arequain quite well.

In the years since the victory over Angmar Hirluin and Pelenwen have spent thier days in peace and leisure, save the ever more infrequent expeditions lead by the now more trepidatiois royalty of Arthedain.Relationships
