Technology and Housing

I am harboring a great disdain towards living anyplace but inside a hand-carved caves. Also they need to have access to water and hotrock heating. No, it doesn't have to have a ledge or more than two rooms.
— Yriinth Tonitruum, Air dragon Advisor when choosing where to move to.

Technology

The current technology level of civilization within Midrast Wain is similar to that of our Neolithic period. The primary building materials are clay, wood, hardwood and stone. Iron and such materials exist but since the great Cataclysm, nobody knows how to process the ore and heat it up to high enough temperature - although Fire dragons have started to make progress in the field of metallurgy - the process is still too costly and ineffective for tools of iron to become commonplace any time soon.   Recently, Sheetstone has risen in popularity as a tool for recording information due to its elasticity and easy to carve properties but it can also be used as a bit more expensive pottery or as a sharp disc-like weapon called Slicer.

Remains of Calamity

The disappearance of The Ancients, also known as Calamity, has marked an era where Gryphons and Dragons inherited the world from their masters. And yet, those buildings, carvings, creatures, items and inventions made by both Kateraks and Ancients still remain in the world even if technology of how to produce them is lost.   Buildings of marble, caves covered in gold, items of great power are now used as seats of power of the greatest Tribe leaders and are passed down from one to another. Yet still, there are many unexplored, dangerous places which may hold further secrets and great rewards.

Housing

From sleeping outside, under the stars to a fully equipped house or cave system with water stream nearby and several servants, Dragons and Gryphons live in a wide variety of places. Building of huts out of natural materials is generally performed by servants specializing in construction and material handling, whereas carving out a cave can take years and requires stonecutter's expertise.   Among the vastness of species living in Midrast Wain, each individual has their own preference in regards to where and how they want to live but an average cave is generally shared between several individuals or families, while the poorest live in barn-like building buildings with little personal space. It is only a privilege of the richer ones to inhabit a cave or house all alone. Important to note is that Hunters and Purveyors generally have no permanent residence of their own and sleep and live in camp-like area of their craft. Clawstoppers are oftentimes relocating from place to place as part of their guarding and peacekeeping duties, although some live permanently within Clawstopper-only residence that serves as their headquarters. Lastly, small tribes, bounty hunters or families may even live a nomadic lifestyle and have no permanent residence. Moving from place to place, offering their skills for food, gems and shelter is commonplace, especially for Hybrids who generally find it difficult to integrate themselves in societies.
