Personal history
Rei Valentine was born in Duskguard from parents who left him on the streets. He was passed from makeshift orphanage to makeshift orphanage until he was 17, when he joined up with Forbes and the crew of the Anabella. He hadn't been much more than a pickpocket before then, but he had always dreamed of sailing away from the pirate city.
Forbes trained him as a sailor and a first mate. Rei developed a close friendship with Cray, a halfling monk who Forbes took aboard around the same time as Rei. The pair would often get into trouble, but were excellent fighters. Several years later, Forbes picked up a strange new crew member. He was an Eladrin prince named Meliodas. Knowing that the kid would never make it with any other crew, he took him on as a new crew member. Meliodas and Rei became fast friends. Meliodas left the crew after only a few months on the sea.
Rei's changeling heritage came in handy when he took the appearance of Meliodas so that he could go into hiding. Even after his death, Rei still took Meliodas' form.
He also helped in the Battle of Liaris.
