Jattil
Governed, overall, by two major factions: the shipwrights and the loggers, each of which have their own
internal structures. A governing council is made up of 3 members, 1 from each guild, and the third being
drawn from one guild or the other alternating every 3 years. There is technically a prince who lives in a
large home in Kog, but his role is primarily symbolic – the leader of their ships during raids, meeting with
emissaries from other isles etc. He is from a long line of sailors, and every member of the family must be
at least passable doing every job on a ship, from the lowliest sailor up to captain. They are schooled in
the raiding techniques of every isle and are shrewd tacticians at sea battle. Navigating the politics of Kog
or Jattil is less important, and rarely stressed during their education, and as such they are frequently
seen as gentile brutes by other powerful individuals.
Massive sequoias and oaks make up the forests, with sequoias being used for masts, and clinkers, while
oaks are used for the keels, spars and "bones," of the ships. On the Northwestern spur of the island, at
the tip, are volcanic black sand beachesThe southern port of Kog is the major ship building center for all
Melnea, while the small northern town, Akera, is the major logging center for the island.
