Lower Wards

Located at the bottom and center of Millennium Station lies what is commonly referred to as the Lower Wards. This is where the poorer and destitute on the station reside. Lacking the amenities that would fetch higher prices for living, such as viewports into space or easier access to station services, these areas are often ignored by the higher class individuals that reside and live in the upper, outward wards of the station.
This segregation of classes on the station has led to a feeling of hopelessness and of being "cut-off" from the rest of the station. Despite the availability of Security, air, water, and Nanoconstruction available on other parts of the station. Even with the apparent economic segregation, the Lower Wards is one of the most diverse areas of colonized space. From this arose a creole called the Lowers Patois or just referred to as "speaking Lower."
Residents of the Lower Wards, commonly referred to as "Lowers" both in and out of the ward, have to deal with higher crime rates than the rest of the station as well as elevated gang activity. Station Security, while present and actively combating the issues, have a hard time completely overcoming them.
