The Union of Independent Worlds
The UIW is probably the most chaotic of the factions. They operate in a non-centralized democracy. Each world or group of worlds of the Union is an independent governing body. All member nations of the UIW agree to provide representatives and supply the overall functions of the Union. The representatives work to address issues that concern the entire union, leaving smaller matters to the individual worlds. Each world is required to help fund and provide both troops and material to the central army of the UIW. Almost nothing gets done in the UIW except when something threatens the vast majority, such as wars or plagues. During the last Expansion wars The Imperium thought that the UIW would be an easy target for annexation - they were proven disastrously wrong. The UIW response was swift and devastating, sending the under-prepared and under-powered fleet back to Imperium space with far fewer ships than they came with.
Style and Design
There is no official style or design of the UIW. Each world provides ships, clothing, material as per how they designed it. No changes are made. The same goes for UIW citizens: no two are the same.
