Al Rashia

Structure

Al Rashia is governed as a theocratic monarchy. Historically the line followed Arilai, the first queen of Al Rashia, but the bloodline was broken long ago. Therefore adoption into the royal family is a valid claim to the throne.
The monarch governs in line with the holy texts and works with a mixed group of elected and appointed officials. The group works together to enact laws and deal out punishments.
If the crown issues a decree that conflicts with the Chaimor’s teachings, then church leaders can band together to present their argument to the rulers and potentially override the law.

Military

Ideally the Mantutine are pacifists, however, Al Rashia is constantly under threat from the neighboring nations due to the historic importance of the ruins of Ireath and economic power. Therefore monastic orders are established to serve as army reserves and sanctuaries for the downtrodden in Al Rashia. People are never drafted to fight in the military.

Religion

An extremely religion-oriented society. Worship of the Chaimor can be seen everywhere. People dress, decorate their homes, build churches, and structure their time per the holy texts. Because of this heavy structure, the Mantutine do not respond well to change.
Churches in Al Rashia are organized and regulated to promote unity and correct teachings. Some of the regulations include limits on the size of individual churches, standardized wages for leaders, and a set doctrine.

Agriculture & Industry

A wealthy nation that thrives on trade and tourism. Thanks to the river that cuts through the desert that covers most of the country and the nearby gulf, Al Rashia can supply resources that other nations need. Also due to the historical and religious context of the area, many pilgrims travel to the country.
The country has a large lower, and a small middle and upper class. Wealth is concentrated in the major cities and there is a decent amount of class fluidity. Near the coast, there are several successful wheat farms but the country must import more food from Skylia to support their numbers.

Trade & Transport

The location of Al Rashia makes the country a major gatekeeper of goods traveling across the continent. Even in times of war, trade routes are encouraged to remain open to allow the unrestricted goods to move between the halves of Runnoth.
