Amber

Due to its natural preservation properties, amber is used as a focus for healing and purification magics. The natural gem is supplied by the firbolgs & wood elves of the Sprucethorn Forests, who gather and prepare it for us.

Some examples of spells that might use amber as a focus include Cure Wounds, Lesser Restoration, and Remove Curse.

Black Magic

Some casters use amber as a way to manipulate the energy that animates living things, in order to create undead. This causes the amber to shatter, due to the sheer amount of magical energy being forced through the fragile stone.
Due to the destruction of the focus, these necromantic spells have become known as "black magic" and are widely viewed as both wasteful and unneeded.
