Session 205 - The Baker
General Summary
15th of Larane (Second Month of Summer) 724TR
The story so far
Jolanta, and her trusty bodyguard Blaine, are agents of the mysterious Order of the White Hand, hunting down unscrupulous mages and covering up magical mishaps.
This is the continuation of Session 203 - Fey Raiders.
Location - City of Tashal in the Kingdom of Kaldor.
Part 1 - Mission 14 - A Baker In Trouble
In addition to dealing with magical mishaps and unsanctioned magic, the White Hand also hides and protects all manner of extra-planer entities. These often disguise themselves as humans and live peaceful unobtrusive life. One such entity is Saipathion the Azer. Sai, as he prefers to be called, is from a fiery elemental realm. He has been hunted by a clan of runic ice sorcerers from the far north. Much blood was spilled, and they want him dead. His false identity, as Sai the Baker, has been exposed. Jolanta and Blaine are to extract him before he is executed, or the ice sorcerer assassins cause too much damage.
Location - A small village just north of Olokand Castle in the Kingdom of Kaldor.
Part 2 - Snow in the Summer
The trail leading to the bakery passes through a small wood. Jolanta is surprised to find it has started snowing, a most unusual event during summer. Magical trickery is afoot, and three huge icy wolves block their way. The Winter Wolves breathe frost and bite deep, but prove an insignificant threat to the heroes.
Part 3 - The Bakery
More ice creatures prowl the deserted bakery, creating a layer of frost on the floor. After an Ice Para-elemental is dealt with, the duo finds a room with access to a cellar. Unfortunately, it is guarded by something much more dangerous. The Frost Salamander proves to be deadly, crashing through the narrow confines of the bakery, breathing blasts of intense cold, and nearly freezing Blaine into a block of ice. Luckily it proves suspectable to Jolanta's fiery magic. After it is converted into a puddle and steam, the cold snap ends.
The characters make their way down into the bakery's cellar.
Part 4 - The Runemaster
It is cold, and Jolanta immediately spots a curious scene; a very stocky dwarf-like man with a fiery red beard is encased in a block of ice. A savage-looking blonde man crouches nearby, his body covered in blue runic tattoos. Although he speaks very basic Hârnic, he does not want to negotiate. Losing patience, the blue runes on his arms flair, and Jolanta and Blaine are hit by a blast of intense cold. Blaine nearly suffers frostbite, whereas Jolanta's magical aptitude is more than up to the task. She disintegrates the dangerous foreigner.
Jolanta melts the ice encasing the Saipathion the Azer. He is thrilled to be free of his painful frozen captivity.
Sai proves to be an eager and engaging conservationist. He quickly uses Disguise Self to appear as a tall blond man with an enormous beard and sets about gathering his belongings and baking some tasty pastries for Blaine. The trio then makes their way back to Lady Bresyn's townhouse in the city.

Part 5 - A Future Glassworker
With his cover blown, Sai doesn't know what to do and considers other options. Jolanta suggests how about starting again in another career far away. Would a glassworker work? Sai is enamored with the idea and uses magic to take on the appearance of a young man. Lady Bresyn, working with the Order of the White Hand, arranges an apprenticeship with a glassworker in the City of Cherafir in the Kingdom of Melderyn.
