Session 229 - The Laboratory

The story so far
Lieutenant Avon of the Red Guard has been assigned another important mission. Investigate the disappearance of Senator Brayzel Dethale. The Senator's townhouse was wrecked, his guards and servants brutally murdered.
The party tracked down the kidnappers who were based in hidden caves under the local Cartwrights shop. They saved the Senator's life and learned that he was captured by the Renegade Necromancer Win-Noora. During his torture, he provided Win-Noora with information pertaining to the Word of Tekhos. This evil artifact is hidden in his family crypt near the City of Shiran.
This is the continuation of Session 228 - The Word of Tekhos.
Location - City of Coranan in the Thardic Republic.
Part 1 - Interrogations
With some glee, Avon interrogates the staff of the Cartwright business taken into custody by the Red Guard. Only Biron the most senior Cartwright was involved with the kidnapping and he readily talks.
Mistress Win (a.k.a the renegade wizard Win-Noora) has been collecting parts of dead bodies from the embalmers and using them the create her monstrosities. Some nosy employees have also been added to her collections. She has a laboratory in the hills where she creates her golems, but Biron doesn't know the exact location. However, Tenhosh, one of the city's animal trainers, does. Mistress Win purchases the carcass of some of his dangerous animals.
Avon also learns that Mistress Win is working on fabricating an enchanted ring for the famous gladiator Ketan the Impaler. This ring will enhance his combat prowess; however, he has yet to pay Mistress Win the full value for this item. Therefore Mistress Win has not handed the ring over. Acheron notes this fact with interest.
Most importantly, he learns that Win-Noora is planning to travel to the Shiran Province to steal the Word of Tekhos, the written ramblings of the tyrant Horahnam of Tekhos, from the Clan Dethale family crypt. She has a key to gain entry, Senator Brayzel Dethale's family signet ring.
Meanwhile, Acheron and Jolanta consult with their respective organizations for help.
Acheron receives a coded message from the Argent Order. They suggest that he contacts a priest of Peoni, Brother Goldier in Shiran, he is an expert on Horahnam of Tekhos.
Jolanta receives a Sending from the Order of the White Hand. They know nothing about the Word of Tekhos but will research the subject.
Part 2 - A Quick Meeting
The Senator warmly congratulates Avon for the rescue of his colleague. He believed Avon, being a man of immense talent, should be promoted to the rank of Captain. He offers to start a petition to his fellow senators on his behalf. If enough senators support this petition, the Commander of the Red Guard would have no choice but to promote him.
Location - Hills North of the City of Coranan in the Thardic Republic.
Part 3 - The Laboratory
The animal trainer's assistant directs the party to a cave in the hills. Two grim-looking statues flank the cave opening. Avon sneaks in, Moneypenny turns herself and Jolanta Invisible, and Acheron takes on the appearance of Win-Noora, using his Mask of Many Faces, and boldly walks in with Blaine acting as her new bodyguard. The cave complex is occupied by a Necromancer in brown robes, Win-Noora's assistant. He falls for Acheron's deception and leads the group into a library and laboratory all the while happily chatting.
The talkative necromancer cheerfully discusses plans with who he thinks is Mistress Win. He says that a mysterious figure has been recorded haunting the Dethale family crypt. He believes this is the Priest of Morgath Ivanoss Dethale, still "alive" after betraying the evil church over 130 years ago. He also mentions the ring that he and Win-Noora have constructed for the gladiator.
However, he is distracted by the still invisible Jolanta making a noise as she examines the books in the library. He moves to investigate, and Avon leaps from the shadows stabbing him in the back. The party makes short work of this wizard, who has no time to mount a defense. Fearing that he may come back to life, Jolanta disintegrates his head.
The characters check out the remaining caves. A pile of bones suddenly animates and attacks the heroes. As they finish these off, hideous dogs sneak up behind them. These patchwork dogs drag Baline to the ground but are quickly disintegrated by Jolanta.

Part 4 - Back at the Big City
Examining the recovered books and documents from Win-Noora's library Jolanta discovers that the Word of Tekhos is not a book but a scroll. If a person's name is written on it, their soul will be ripped from their body and replaced by the Shadow of Bukrai. A least that is what Win-Noora's research suggests.
Additionally, Jolanta finds and studies the plans for the magical ring Win-Noora has made for the gladiator Ketan the Impaler. The Sanguine Band will allow a piercing weapon wielded to cut through flesh and easily inflict more pain. Abaddon decides to visit Ketan's dwelling, magically disguised as Win-Noora, hoping to deceive him out of the remaining payment for the ring. Unfortunately, after an awkward conversation with Ketan's lady friend, he learns that he has recently left the city with Win-Noora, as her new bodyguard.
