Ayla Pressatra
"It is said that Ayla “Eagle Eye” was born with bow in hand under a blood moon in the deep elven forests of Starwood. It is said she can stick an arrow between the nostrils of a boar from a mile away. It is said she never reuses an arrow, instead preferring to fashion new ones from the bones of her prey.
There are many things said about Ayla Pressatra, but few know the truth of her. She never wastes her breath bellowing boisterous tales of her adventures, nor expresses any hint of companionship with her fellow militiamen. What she lacks in words, she makes up for in actions. Her spotting and bowmanship are unmatched in the Caravan Guard, and these skills have proven profitable on many occasions. I can’t tell you how many excavations would have perished to unseen predators had Ayla not been there to defend them. Her wild fervor in battle with the native monsters has saved many a life in the mines, and many a coin in my coffers.
Despite her martial excellence, I cannot recommend that she be put in a position of command. She is off-putting to many of the other guards. The humans and dwarves especially seem to dislike her and her odd, quiet habits. Aside from the focus of the hunt, she is a quite disorganized individual. While she doesn’t in truth craft arrows from the bones of her victims, she does spend an inordinate amount of her coin on new arrows. I believe she truly doesn’t re-use them. This obsession with buying and using her supplies only once has led her into destitution despite my generous pay. I do not believe money has the same meaning where she came from.
While she is an excellent guard, she is a poor leader. Her ferocity and focus are unmatched and quite valuable when it comes to protecting our assets, but she does not have what we would call common sense and spreads unease among her compatriots. I am therefore dismissing Ayla’s proposed promotion for the position of Guard Captain.”
