Euriel Zander
Euriel Zander is a half-elf physician from Baldur's Gate, who has come to Mythrite in order to support his family. He largely keeps to himself, and would rather stay out others' business if he can help it, though he is known back home for getting in over his head if he's angry.

Euriel does what he can to stay in shape. As a physician, he is very health conscious, but between work and his family, there isn't as much time for him to exercise as he'd like.

Euriel is known to look rather unforgiving and intimidating, even if he bears no ill will towards someone.
Identifying Characteristics
Euriel's been injured more than a few times due to all of the fights he got in when he was younger. He bears a number of knife scars from all of these fights. Some are on his arms, and visible if he's wearing a short sleeved shirt. Most of them, however, are on his torso or upper thighs, and have only ever been seen by the doctors treating him, or his wife.

Personal history
Euriel was born and raised in Baldur's Gate, solely raised by his father, the elven carpenter Tyrell. Despite the fact that his mother was attracted enough to an elf to have sex with him, she didn't think much of the potential consequences. Tyrell's desperate pleas are the only reason that she didn't terminate the pregnancy, though she considered it.
Being rejected by his mother made young Euriel hate the idea of family. That abandonment coupled with more than a few people giving him a hard time for no other reason than his being a half elf contributed to a less than idea childhood.
He was 16 when it happened. He got into a fight, which was nothing new for him. It wasn't even all that new that he got into a fight because he saw someone being harassed. Him actually being arrested for it was new, though. He was confident he'd get out before long, but expected his father to be his savior, rather than the young woman he had protected.
He expected her to repay the kindness and forget he existed, but she didn't. He saw her more and more, and the two eventually fell in love. A few years later, they were engaged to be married. One of her younger siblings fell ill, and Euriel endeavored to study medicine, wanting to repay his new family's kindness by being able to see to their medical needs, saving them both time and money.
While his in-laws were wealthy when he first met them, the merciless marching of time and the actions of people who were none to happy to see a half-elf marry into the family, their wealthy quickly began to wane.
Now 35, with four children, Euriel and his wife, Kiera, are still happy. However, unnerved by the economic situation of their city, Euriel has decided to leave his family and head for Mythrite, hoping to make some money to send back to them in the young, promising town.
Education
Euriel had little formal education in his youth. He left school early to help support his father at work. It wasn't until after he met Kiera that her family started hiring tutors for him. He eventually went on to study medicine and biology, allowing him to become a practicing physician.
Employment
Euriel was a physician in Baldur's Gate, and hopes to continue his work in Mythrite. He has been in practice for 10 years, and has made a bit of a name for himself in Baldur's Gate, notably among the half-elf community. Before he started studying medicine, he was an apprentice carpenter under his father.
Morality & Philosophy
Euriel places great importance on the notion of family. He hated the very idea when he was younger, but being welcomed with open arms into Kiera's family gave him a new outlook on life, reinforcing values his father had tried instilling in him before. Being treated so well by them, and seeing his own children grow, has made him appreciate the notion of having a familial bond with people.
He feels it the duty of parents to be role models for their children, and always makes sure to be on his best behavior to show his sons how to act, and his daughters what to expect from a gentleman.
While he tries to be rather mild mannered and proper for his purpose, he is known to lash out at people who disrespect their families or the families of others.

Euriel's family - notably his children - are his motivation. He moved to Mythrite to support them, and whenever he's with them, he does his best to be a good role model for them. They're what drives him to get up each day and put as much effort into his work as he does.

Euriel prides himself on his honor and manners perhaps a bit too much. Having to be at his best behavior at all times can sometimes be stressful. If he screws up, he has a tendency to beat himself up for it, where others might think that he's blowing things out of proportion.

Family Ties
Euriel's favorite people in the world are his immediate family: his father, wife, and four children.
Tyrell raised Euriel singlehanded for 16 years, showering his son in what affection he could and trying to guide him like a mentor.
Kiera came into his life at 16 and helped to reform the fight prone young man into a respectable citizen and family man.
Concerns about illness leading up to his marriage and the birth of his firstborn Sasha drove Euriel to study medicine in order to make sure his family was happy and healthy.
His first son, Corin, idolizes his father, something that Euriel is both proud of and scared of, putting even more pressure on him to be the ideal role model.
Devon, rambunctious and full of energy, reminds Euriel a little bit of his younger self, though thankfully without the anger.
Ayla, his youngest, seems bright and full of potential, which fills both of her parents with joy.
Without his family in his life, Euriel isn't sure what he would do with himself. He shudders to think of what might become of him if that happened.
