Gimren's Gravestone

Gimren was a Dwarf and a skilled miner. Miners throughout the town admired his skill, speed, and strength. Many people asked if they could work under him, or watch him work, but he always turned them down. He said they were family secrets from his great-great-granddad, and he would only ever pass them down to his son Therbrek, who was not yet of age.    One day while he was out mining, he struck “gold” or in this case, Mythril. But once he found it, he was attacked by Goblins. These goblins had been watching him for weeks, because they heard of his mining prowess, and now that he has found Mythril they wanted to steal his riches. He fought them off bravely, but the goblin kept coming.   As the story goes, he fought off the entire horde by himself and it lasted from sunrise to sunset. When it was over, he limped back to town and brandished the head of the goblin king. Everyone from town rushed to his aid, as he was a well known Dwarf. He began to tell the story of the fight, but before he could reveal the location of all that Mythril he tried to protect, he died.   His story spread quickly through the surrounding towns, and soon miners came to visit his grave, and honor his skill, stamina, and sacrifice. No one knows how this rumor started, but eventually, it became common knowledge that if you were to chip off a small piece of his gravestone, it would give you good luck both in striking it rich.   Quickly, Gimren’s gravestone became cracked and warped from all those trying to get their good luck. Gimren’s wife Margon came to protect it from being whittled away completely, fighting off greedy miners. Now she has set up camp there and warns everyone of what she will do to protect Gimren’s legacy. The pieces of Gimren’s gravestone have now become a commodity, selling for exceedingly high prices, despite the numerous fakes that are circulating.
