Glorandal Norfaren
Glorandal Norafaren is a bitter elf who prefers to be alone with his own thoughts. He is a working-class stonemason who specializes in crafting tombstones. Glorandal has personally hand-carved the name and age of almost every deceased settler in Mythrite. Whilst he works, he likes to create imaginary backstories for every name he is commissioned to carve. This line of work is a constant reminder to Glorandal of his own mortality and continues to challenge his personal, fickle relationship with death.
After a long, strenuous day at work, Glorandal retires home to his small dwelling in Reverie. His place is cluttered, but this does not bother him seeing as he lives alone and rarely has any visitors. The most notable features of his one-bedroom flat are the tiny kitchen, a single large armchair, and two shrines, one dedicated to his late wife, Aleua, and the other to his late son, Castien.
Glorandal initially lived in Neverwinter with his wife, Aleua, and his son, Castien. He loved his wife’s pet nickname for him, “Randy”, and preferred to be addressed as such. Randy and Aleua dreamed of living a happy, simple life together. Their hearts were crushed when their baby, Castien, was born miserably ill. Castien spent most of his young life bedridden. Randy and Aelua worked tirelessly to protect and provide for their only son but struggled to keep up with the medical demands and expensive treatments as two poor artisans. When Castien had finally come to pass, Aelua fell into a deep depression. She followed her son soon after. A few years had gone by before Randy first heard the rumors of the growing settlement, Mythrite, a place far, far away from civilization. Without hesitation, and on a drunken whim, he packed all he could carry and left Neverwinter, along with the ghosts of his tragic past, behind. He was among the first few settlers who saw Mythrite as an opportunity to start a solitary, quiet life anew.
Glorandal chose to specialize in crafting headstones upon his arrival to Mythrite, hoping it would help him cope with the finality of death and develop a healthy relationship with loss. You can often find him working in his shop, or drinking alone at a pub. He is often cold-shouldered, but secretly enjoys listening to the juicy backstories and life occurrences of chatty strangers. He might even be susceptible to listening to yours, so long as you never dare to call him Randy.
