Solana Elara
Solana was born into a family of craftspeople. They specialize in leather but can do other materials, their second best being cloth. They do not acquire their own leather or make their own cloth, they buy it from mearchents or whoever is hunting wild animals in the area. Solana likes to mix these two specialties, putting embroideries and other decorative items on her leather goods. She is quite good at making quality leather items that both look good and can provide some form of protection. It is what she is most known for by other people who shop at her parents store. Solana is interested in learning how to use ore as decoration. She is planning to start with learning how to shape mythrite ore.
Her and her family moved into the Reverie hoping to earn a profit off of those who did earn their fortunes coming to the town. Most of their business comes from those working in the mines and guarding the town. She has been making a lot of gloves and armor of late, not as many of the pretty pieces she likes to make. The new store seems to be successful as they have the money that they need to be stable. She would like to be able to expand on what the store currently sells so that she can make the more creative pieces she wants to. Her goal is to make something pretty enough that she fulfills the original goal of the family moving here, earning money off of the wealthy who like having pretty things to wear. Her plan thus far is to learn another craft, either some form of jewel crafting or blacksmithing, to make some new and unheard of look. She thinks the sparkly metal or gems will attract people's eyes and make them want to wear it.
She lives with her parents and is very attached to them. They are her role models since they taught her how to do her craft. She puts them on a high enough pedestal that she will not tell them if she is struggling simply because she wants to impress them with how independent she is. Solana has a brother that did not move with them. This is because Solana is clearly the favorite child and he was tired of it. He and Solana were never super close but this hurt Solana anyway. She wants to have a good family and this kind of showed it is not perfect. Solana writes to him about what goes on in her life regularly. Since he does not blame her for their parents favoritism, he does the same. These letters do not go much beyond large events in their lives.
She is friends with Kali Kelphine. This started with Solana liking the silks she sells. Eventually Solana started showing Kali her designs and they love to talk about them. Kali provides most of the cloth Solana uses and the two constantly talk about their favorite fashions and general gossip. Kali will tell Solana about parties she is going to and will bring Solana with her if Solana has the time. She has a rival in Hamis Keakas, as he tends to take a lot of the repair jobs from her family's business. She has a particular hate for it because he does not seem super passionate about it. He is too serious, and she does not trust him with her finely crafted items. It infuriates her that people will take her products to him to repair wear and tear.
Solana herself is energetic and sweet to most people she meets. Most people find that they can trust her as she is good at keeping secrets and not the sort to lie. When she sees that someone needs help, she will try to help them. Though, not to the point of putting herself too far in harms way as past experience has taught her she is no fighter. She knows her way around formal parties as her parents would drag her to them to show her off. To her it is a fun way to network and a good way to make new friends.
Solana does not have a religion. She feels it is a waste of time. In her opinion, there is either no god or it does not answer it’s followers. She believes the religion helps people because they like to say their god is looking out for them and that provides some form of comfort. In the interest of not disrupting this comfort, she will refuse to talk about it. This way she does not have to lie and say she believes in their god and she does not have to tell them their god is stupid. She does not have a love life, she is too focused on her career at the moment. Solana does not enjoy politics but she does understand them and checks up on it because it can impact how a business runs. Solana does not do drugs as she has heard it can be harmful to the body. She does not want to lose her ability to do her craft on account of trying a drug. She does not understand the people that do them and if she knows them, passively encourage them to stop. Solana is afraid of conflict. She does not like war and feels it should be avoided at high cost. She will avoid getting into a fight or help someone out in a fight. She might stay hidden and help whoevers injured after the fight is over.
