Esko, the third planet from the sun Shak, is largely a water planet of moderate temperature, providing a comfortable habitat for its inhabitants. Its vast continent, Anerone, dominates the northern hemisphere, while the bustling city of Dehlith thrives in the southern hemisphere. The planet is orbited by two moons: Thokat, the closer moon whose orbit determines the months, and Ehlifu.
The planet has not been in contact since Dehlith was sunk and destroyed. Anerone, still largely in a pre-industrial development stage is unaware of the greater galaxy.
Timekeeping
The length of 1 month is 25 days, determined by the orbit of the closest moon, Thokat. Each year has 15 months, which are grouped into 3 sections of 5 months. These roughly reflect the growth, harvest, and winter seasons on Esko. Each month consists of 5 weeks of 5 days. Every 5 years there is a Week of Plenty which consists of 6 days which takes place between the 1st and 2nd seasons.Geography
The northern continent of Anerone is large with varying terrain. Originally, the only land in the southern hemisphere was a small, isolated island, just big enough for a farm. The city of Dehlith was later built branching out from this central island.
History
The histories of Dehlith and Anerone diverged as a direct consequence of the War of Enlightenment in 644 BR. Due to the animosity towards the exiled, exploring the possibility of leaving the planet by any means possible was a huge focus in the early years. This mellowed over the years as shielding technology was developed, making Dehlith much more hospitable than before.
