Malrius Harken
Malrius Harken
A Tiefling Wererat who worked at Mr. Goety's Traveling Carnival Cacophony, running the Find the Queen booth, which is essentially three-card monte. His younger brother, Nephmir Harken, works with him distracting the rubes to allow Malrius to have an easier time hiding the queen's location. He has worked with the carnival for five years and prefers to keep a low profile and was disturbed by the sudden appearance of werewolves infiltrating the carnival at the Poc Fair outside of Caer Craftenor, fearing it would draw too much attention.
He has open animosity with Adreline, the wereserpent, who sees rats as her natural prey. He is at least semi-involved with Naimh, a cootch girl who works at the circus, who is aware of his true nature. After discovering that the vendor who sold meat-on-a-stick at the carnival, was using rat meat, he abducted him to use as bait to pacify the carnal impulses of the werewolves.
When Cailean and Ciorstag too Levi out to hunt the victims that they had gathered, Illevaere noticed him and his brother sneaking out of a cabin ahead of where the hunt was to take place. The party eventually found that they had set up wolfsbane incense within the cabin to harm the werewolves.
After the hunt, he realized that the party had given information to Baremine Barleyhare who was headed to the carnival in order to ferret out the rest of the lycanthropes. So he instead followed the party to Aisling's house in Caer Craftenor, where he spent the night. He told Illevaere that they owed him a drink still. Illevaere made a cup of tea laced with psychodelics for the two of them. He told Illevaere that he and Niamh had an open and understanding relationship, and she was violently vomitting throughout the night, so he asked if they would share his bed. Feeling that it would be disrespectful to Aisling to do so in her house (and in front of her), Illevaere turned down the offer.
Malrius told the party that he and Namphir would wait until the carnival left and then catch up with it outside of Caer Craftenor, which was standard operating for anyone ducking out and laying low of the law at any of their stops.
