Myrkvior
Myrkvior is a dark, twisted forest located on the northern edge of Hrafnel, forever altered by the strange and dangerous energies emanating from the Daoui Steinn crater. Once a typical woodland, Myrkvior has been transformed into an eerie and corrupted landscape, its trees and wildlife bearing the unnatural taint of the meteorite’s influence. The forest now stands as a place of dread, where the very air feels thick with an oppressive, otherworldly presence.
The trees of Myrkvior have grown tall and gnarled, their bark darkened and twisted into unnatural shapes. Leaves shimmer in shades of black, dark green, and deep purple, while faint, sickly lights sometimes flicker among the branches, leading many to believe that the forest has become imbued with dark magic. The flora and fauna have also been changed; plants with unnatural growth patterns and mutated creatures now roam the shadowy undergrowth.
Travelers entering the forest report strange sensations of being watched or followed, and the deeper one ventures into Myrkvior, the more intense these feelings become. Many who enter lose their way, confused by shifting paths and eerie sounds that seem to come from nowhere. Stories abound of shadowy figures, perhaps fey or spirits, lurking in the forest, seemingly drawn by the meteorite's strange power.
To the south lies the mining town of Darkvein, whose residents have long been wary of Myrkvior’s creeping influence. As the town deals with the psychological and physical toll of proximity to the Daoui Steinn, Myrkvior has become a symbol of the greater corruption at work, a dark mirror of the land itself twisted by the strange energies from the meteorite.
To the west and north, the Groundsgrunn Mountains loom, forming a natural barrier that further isolates Myrkvior. These towering peaks are a stark contrast to the shadowy forest, but even the mountains are not immune to the effects of the meteorite, with rumors of strange creatures descending from the high passes into the forest below.
Myrkvior is a place of danger and mystery, where the natural world has been tainted by forces beyond comprehension. Few dare to venture within its depths, and those who do often return changed—or not at all. The forest stands as a haunting reminder of the power and peril of the Daoui Steinn, a cursed place where the very land itself seems to hunger for those who enter.
