The Woven Way

The Woven Way is a network of spider webs that fill a massive chasm within The Underdark and serve as a feeding ground for Driders and their Giant Spider pets. This area, though entirely avoidable and rarely logical to enter, is often used by travelers as a shortcut between the Upperdark and Middledark due to the nearest alternate requiring over a month's extra travel through the dangers of the Underdark.

Architecture

The Woven Way is criss-crossed by countless nets of heavy spider web at all angles. Many of the webs are covered in thick layers of dust and dirt, allowing them to be traversed by careful travelers, but newer webs are naturally sticky and may trap unsuspecting individuals to be later consumed by Giant Spiders and Driders. Traversable webs at steeper angles are sometimes used by more adventurous travelers to quickly travel vertically within the massive chasm that The Woven Way fills.

Defenses

The paths of The Woven Way are naturally sticky to all but the spiders that maintain it, providing a natural defense against intruders into the domain of the Driders. Additionally, hunting parties of Driders, Giant Spiders, and Collossal Spiders often roam the depths of The Woven Way in order to subdue, capture, and cocoon travelers and wildlife foolish enough to attempt crossing the vast chasm.
