Evelyn Marchal

BIOGRAPHY

Evelyn was born in one of the small hamlets that sprung up around the Great Eastern Road in the The Watchlands after its construction. Evelyn's hamlet fell prey to raids from Beastmen that still roamed the area in the aftermath of the Wild Hunt. Her father died in that raid and Evelyn's mother fled to the stronghold of the Wayspire.
At the Wayspire Evelyn joined the Wayspire Watchers as soon as she was allowed to. She vowed that a fate like hers would not befall the rest of the world. She was soon recognized for her remarkable talents by the aging Thrask Thornhold. Thrask started to take her under his special tutelage, showing her the intricacies of governing mages in a manner that does not estrange them. 
Evelyn sometimes got nasty looks from other Watchers who believed she was given preferential treatment, but her many hours at the training courts showed otherwise. In 1456 Thrask died of old age and Evelyn succeeded him as chaptermaster.

Skills

Evelyn fights with a sword and shield, like most Watchers. She is however especially adept at magic-dampening. Apart from combat she enjoys reading and poetry. 

PERSONALITY

Evelyn is dedicated to her job. She hardly has time for anything but her role as protector of the people and the mages. If she does have some spare time, she likes to spend it in a quiet place with a good book.

Ideals

Evelyn stands for the protection of the people of the Watchlands. Through her tutelage by Thrask she has understood how the mages are not different from any other people of the Watchlands, but that their inherent risks require special governing in order to protect the other people. She understands that the only way to do this is to win the allegiance of the mages she is guarding.

Bonds

Evelyn was fiercely loyal to her mentor Thrask. After his death she is having trouble knowing who to trust.

Flaws

Evelyn is known to micro-manage because of perfectionism. If she could, she would walk every guardround herself.

Diplomacy

Evelyn is not bound to any allegiance other than her oath to protect the people of the Watchlands.
